Hand-formed in black clay, "Concha" (“Shell”) pays tribute to the women who raised Bezerra in Northeastern Brazil. Its enveloping, shell-like silhouette evokes care, resilience, and the sense of being held. It is signed "Antonia" – the artist's given name at birth. Her grandmother wanted her named after Saint Anthony as a protector name. She signs her work Antonia as an homage to her ancestors.
