"Red Beach" is the result of sustained observation of a singular coastal view in the Channel Islands. Summerfield was captivated by the transient patterns of the tide, and worked from many drawings made on site, as well as from memory and imagination. He captures the extraordinary drama of nature – the restlessness of the sea, and the permanence of rock.
