Carved from locally salvaged spalted birch, "Rage Spoon" is Samuels' way of responding to the feeling of paralysis that sets in when witnessing unrelenting global injustice. Carving an oversized, nonfunctional spoon becomes both an act of release and a mirror of impotence: a reshaping of a material that ultimately does nothing.
